Former Gloucester City Mayor Running for 2nd Ward Council Seat
Walter W. Jost is running for the Second Ward City Council Seat in Gloucester City during this year's General Election November 6 against Bruce Parry.
Candidates in Wards One and Three are running unopposed.
Walter Jost was mayor of Gloucester City in the early '90s. He is a lifelong resident of Gloucester and a graduate of Gloucester City High School.
He said he is very involved in the City and has always shown care and concern from his experience in local government to numerous organizations and committees he has belonged to over the years.
Jost has taken a major interest in the youth of the city and has been active in the Cub Scouts of America for many years.
He has received two outstanding awards for his service to the youth: the District Award of Merit and the Silver Beaver Award by the National Council.
Jost said he has pledged his continued commitment to the education and care of the youth in Gloucester.
He has been a real estate broker for the past 25 years and has also worked as a Radio Technician for WIP Radio and was a Studio Supervisor for WMMR in Philadelphia.
He now works for WYSP doing Eagles Football.
A World War II Marine Veteran, Jost said he is also active in his community church, serving as financial secretary for the First Baptist Church of Gloucester.
He is a member of the Merchantville Lodge 19, Palestine Lodge 135 and has been Second Ward Committeeman for the last 15 years. He was also a member of the Gloucester City Planning Board.
Jost continues to be active today with the Celebration Committee, Rotary Club, Amateur Radio Club, Emergency Communications Group and various community services within the City. He and his wife, Jean, have three children, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
"Please remember, November 6, Vote Walter Jost, 2nd Ward Council Column 1. I am a person who is concerned about Gloucester City and where it's going in the future," he said.

I like the idea of having some diversity in City Council, so I would also ask everyone to support Walt Jost. I can't vote for Walt Jost because Gloucester City still has this WAY OUTDATED WARD SYSTEM. So, what that means is that even though there are 3 spots throughout the city open for council, you can only Vote for One, although the other 2 will be making decisions for the whole city.
I would like to ask 3 questions to Walt Jost, if elected will you work towards:
1. Get rid of this Out Dated Ward System we have in Gloucester?
2. Will you work to Get Rid of the Street Sweeper and the Tickets?
3. Save the taxpayers Money by making the Fire Dept. mainly Volunteer, if not All Volunteer?
4. "You don't have to answer this one, but PLEASE, Get rid of Paul Kain, we don't need 2 administrators and Mr. Bevan seems to be doing a much better job at doing Paul's Job than Paul does!

The James Gang may be shooting themselves in the foot. It boggles the mind to see the DEMOCRAT CLUB and the CAMDEN COUNTY DEMOCRAT MACHINE signs on Bill James' lawn. We didn't work so hard to get the James Gang elected so we could see them give their control away.
Paul Kain and Bowie Johnson must be so proud of themselves when they discuss the future of Gloucester City at the County level. They probably are assuring the county machine the election of the James Gang was an ABERRATION and in November they will be only one vote away from machine control again.
One way to make the James Gang understand the fact that they did not elect themselves will be to go against their endorsement of the Democrat Club. That can best be done by having all independents, republicans and unhappy democrats VOTE TO ELECT WALT JOST.
The James Gang got lucky this year and fail to realize what a terrible year this would have been if MALEY and KAIN were still running the city. I can't understand why the James Gang did not solicit to put up a slate to increase their strength to assure accomplishment of long range goals.
