Outgoing Phillipsburg Superintendent of Schools H. Gordon Pethick
warned the Phillipsburg Board of Education of serious issues concerning
the 2008-09 district budget that could force steep property tax
increases and educational cuts.
Pethick and Business Administrator William Poch told school directors
members Monday night that recently passed school funding laws will thin
available state aid and cause a district shortfall of more than $10.1
million for the 2008-09 school year.
