Rams Alumni in the News: Lesson in caring

Walker, an Evesham resident, said she was simply looking to try something new. The short length of the commitment also appealed to her.

“I didn’t know much about diabetes, so it was a learning experience,” she said. 

A 2004 graduate of Gloucester Catholic High School in Gloucester City, Camden County, Walker said she learned what children who have juvenile diabetes deal with and saw how their parents created support systems with each other. She also said that she was impressed by how much the camp’s staff truly cares about the children and their families.

As a family pal, she attended to children in a variety of activities, such as boating, arts and crafts, and woodworking. “My kids loved miniature golf,” she said.
