College Baseball: Rider Hayes MACC Player of the Week

Media release, April 1, 2008

LAWRENCEVILLE—Rider University junior James Hayes (Sunrise, Fla./Piper) was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Player of the Week for all games played the last week of March.

Hayes batted .579 (11-19) in five games last week while playing four different positions, including starting three straight games at three different positions (second base at Rutgers, centerfield against Saint Joseph's, right field against Marist). He stole six bases and scored four runs, hit two doubles and had four walks.

Hayes pitched two innings of relief without allowing a hit or a run, striking out four while saving the wins over St. Joseph's and Marist.

On the season Hayes is batting .338 with a team-high 27 hits, while compiling five saves.

Rider hosts Seton Hall Tuesday at 3:30 pm.
