Sounds like the best paid group of people in town town want more raises and more toys. Keeping up with the Jones' is a mentality that we can little afford. Look girls you need to decide whether we maintain the same size workforce or get raises and new toys.
Nick already wants us to contribute to our own health benefits package. God forbid we should get our wish. Let's talk about this at the union meeting.

If gloucester had the new expensive GPS system that Brooklawn has they would know why that car was there and for how long--Yeah you heard me you can skip from on end to the other in Brooklawn, and the tax payers apparently have to pay for GPS, how about using that money form something else, like raises, or equipment that they need.

This forum makes me laugh! For some reason people actally think that the Police and Fire Department hate each other. Just because someone posts something on this site and acts like a cop or a fireman everyone assumes that is their profession. Don't get me wrong I am sure several members probably don't get along but you find that everywhere. I was at the wing bowl and saw what a close working relationship these two departments have. Don't be fooled by people posting on this site I have seen these two groups in public on many occassions and I must say that for the most part they are honorable people. God bless them all!

Lets grow up girls!! If someone has a problem, we all know where the Police Station and Fire Headquarters are located. Or better yet, show up at a FMBA or PBA meeting and make your complaints there. Be a man, and air out any complaints to those involved. This bashing of cops and firemen on a public forum is bush league. Use your heads morons. We are not garnering public support by acting like kids for all to see. Especially at a time when the city wants to shred both of our contracts.

What Will Happen In Five Years????
Posted by: | April 19, 2008 at 11:05 AM
hey en fuego, they did not put a price on the lives of the fire fighters. They simply did what needed to be done to save gloucester tax payers money. You guys sit there collecting overtime money on our dime, we have about 100 volunteers that are at most fires. Sanderson sounded like a moron when he screamed like an 8th grade girl at the council meeting, you know what you signed up for. You dont hear the cops crying that the crime rate is sky rocketing and they havent had a new officer in 4 years. You guys hire someone new every couple months. Also what about that clown that couldnt control himself at the wing eating contest, bashing the mayor and council, you didnt see any cops doing that. Hopefully in five years we wount have this problem

alter ego,
I am sure you get a lunch break when you are at work, right? So now we should eliminate lunch breaks for all city employees! Think before you speak or write!

We should not endanger cops. We should protect their privacy. We should limit the number of cars to that number needed to man the active shift. Get rid of the rest.(save tax dollars) By eliminating all the free rides we do not expose the cops home addresses to the criminal element thereby protecting their privacy.
Doing the same thing in the fire department would help reduce the personal shopping trips to the Audubon Shopping Center. Right?
If we bought box lunches from Gaetanos we could have the cops eat them while sitting at the park areas thereby reducing vandalism and eliminating the need for additional paid security.

I think like I said was written by Jean.

I understand that cops take there cars home with them for "security in the neighborhoods" but if were worried about money why do we have so many cop cars in town. I think we have 15 or 16 plus the chiefs, lts. and detectives. Can't we cut back a little on vehichles. Also I always see Gloucester cops in Brooklawn, does the city get paid by Brooklawn for always being there. Maybe we should set up shared services with them or merge the towns.

Hey nick,
I don't think that is the first police car to catch fire! Maybe they do need new vehicles. Or are you going to start putting a price on cops lives like you did firemans lives!!

Can some one explain what the whole "Like I said...like I said" thing means.

How old was that car? My guess it's a '98, that car probably had over 200,000 miles. That's what happens when your told to drive "old & over driven" squad cars.

If we didn't have such an excess of city owned vehicles the employees would have to stay in town and on the job. It had to be Kaye's car, otherwise it would have burned up in Gaetano's parking lot.

I did not know Gloucester City police department patrolled Brooklawn, or was the officer on unofficial business.

Doesn't it say Brooklawn and Bellmawr put out the fire? I must have missed the part where it says Bellmawr does Brooklawn's job.

Where was the GCFD when they were needed?
GCFD - 1
GCPD - 0

Once again Bellmawr does Brooklawn's job.
