A
Win for NJ
Family Leave Insurance is the law of the state Gov. Jon Corzine is scheduled to sign the Family Leave Insurance bill into law later today. The first legislation to provide New Jersey working men and women with paid time off to care for sick family members was introduced about a dozen years ago. But very little happened until the past couple of years, when active coalitions pressed their case for this much-needed reform. NJPP is proud to be a member of the New Jersey Time to Care Coalition, for whom today's milestone is the culmination of hard work that paid off. The following statement was issued by NJ Time to Care: Governor Corzine signing the Family Leave Insurance bill into law today is a welcome step forward for working men and women in New Jersey and their loved ones. They'll get help they need to balance the obligations of job and family in stressful economic times. Family leave insurance will make New Jersey a stronger state all around-a better place to work, to raise a family and to run a business. Many states will be following New Jersey's example, and that will make the U.S. a stronger nation. The New Jersey Time to Care Coalition thanks Governor Corzine for signing the Family Leave Insurance law, and expresses our gratitude to the legislative sponsors and members of both houses whose support brought success in a long, hard fight for economic security and worker rights. | |
