Mario Has made Lieutenant in the Winslow fire department he has one step ahead then he did Gloucester and he has only been there less than 4 months. I do not think he will be returning.

Mario Scullan thought the grass was greener before and left for the Mt. Laurel Fire Department and returned to the GCFD a short time later. When he returned he did not have enough time on to take the LT's test. So now he is leaving for winslow, when will he return????? Is the grass greener in Winslow? when he returns will he miss another testing process!

I heard that Mr. Scullan was a great employee of the city of Gloucester but he obviously seen the light at the end of the tunnel and realized it does not matter how good you are, or your leadership abilities. It's a shame that Gloucester City lost another great assets to the Gloucester City community. Good Luck to Mr. Scullan and all of his future endeavors, you will be sadly missed in the City of Gloucester. Ha, Ha that’s 3 funny, Vacations are great!!!!!!!

Out of the loop
My comment referred to Mario Scullan. I had a number of dealings with Mario and found him very helpful and reasonable. I don't know anything about the politics of the fire or police departments other than what we read on CNB.
The current inspectors treat me well and fairly so I hope we don't lose anymore quality people.

Can someone explain who left to go where? Why did he leave?

Rick,
Gloucester City defiantly lost out with this fine young man leaving the Gloucester City FD and going to Winslow. I bet there are some City political hacks, along with others in the GCFD very excited that this young man left because they feared that he would outrank them on the testing process. People make side deals because they are afraid that someone may be smarter, more knowledgeable or just plain old better then certain people so they cannot accept the facts of life on how they are. I assure you that he provides great management and leadership skills on the volunteer ranks in Mt. Ephraim, just ask any of their members. It is a shame that the political hacks of the fire department have pushed out great members like this along with others who have seen the writing on the wall.

Hey Bill
Would you be willing to accomodate the City of Gloucester as you have done for Mount Ephraim. I am referring to the ease and simplicity with which the leadership of that community got the word out and in a forum that allows for real time information delivery and feedback.
They acquired a fine young man as their fire chief who seems to be showing good leadership skills. Congratulations to them. Our loss is their gain.
Point to be made; it appears that a community no larger than us and with no more money to work with than us can afford to use twenty first century technology to a greater advantage than we can. If we can't lead can't we at least try to keep up?
Respectfully submitted
Rick Gonzales
