New Regulations: Hotel stays, nepotism, payouts all banned by new school rules

TRENTON - No taxpayer-funded overnight stays for teachers, administrators or board members in New Jersey hotels. No hiring of school board members' relatives. No big cash payouts to superintendents who leave before their contracts have expired. Those
rules are among the 205 pages of draft regulations the state Department
of Education released Wednesday for how the state will apply and
enforce laws approved by the Legislature last year to make school
districts more accountable. The regulations cover smaller, day-to-day expenses as well as larger policy decisions.
