Should It Really Be About Money?

http://www.savestmarys.net

We know that the church closures are not about money. Truly, whatever is lacking could surely be found. (The Diocese owns so much unused real estate and has plenty of money.) And besides, some of the most financially viable churches in the Diocese have been slated for closure. But many persist in believing the closures are about money.

Worse still, there are priests and pastors out there who claim that if a church cannot support itself, it has no right to exist.

(Keep in mind that debt is sometimes incurred due to the necessity of paying assessments to the Diocese and certain amounts to support local Catholic schools, whether or not parishioners actually make use of or can afford tuition at these schools. Barring these two things, most churches do not have any problem paying their utility bills and maintaining their properties. We should also remember that by virtue of threatening certain churches with closure, the bishop has scared off many Catholics from the Faith or their parishes altogether, causing a great deal of confusion, despair, and decreased church attendance, all of which affect collections.)

Ted Kennedy Wants To Be Your Doctor

Obama Administration pushing a nationalized health care plan that will destroy private health insurance and put bureaucrats in charge of your health.

Louis P Sheldon

Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-MA), an Obama surrogate in the Senate, has unveiled a health care plan that will be a nightmare of bureaucracy and oppressive government control over your health care. The working title of this bill is “Quality, Affordable Health Care For All Americans.”

The Kennedy plan – part of Obama’s “health care reform” effort – was recently unveiled. Former Bush senior economic advisor Keith Hennessey has analyzed the Kennedy plan and has exposed the dangerous threat it poses to our nation’s health care system.

The Kennedy-Obama plan, says Hennessey will:

The $114 Billion Rusty Lawn Mower; the Dog That Didn't Bark

www.businessandmedia.org

To do this magical deal, Obama had to commit massive financial fraud (by lying to us and GM stockholders about the company’s certain bankruptcy while engineering it), trash federal bankruptcy law, conspire to steal bondholders’ property and rights (making it insane for anyone to invest in any corporate bonds), create ownership nearly for free for the UAW, and extort the nation of Canada.

He did this all in the name of saving jobs – while the result is, in fact, massive job losses, closure of thousands of small businesses (car dealerships) and by domino effect, thousands more. Well, Obama never claimed to be a capitalist, now, did he?

The Lasting Legacy of George W. Bush:

At or near the end of George W. Bush's Presidency, the combined total of America's debt (about $11 trillion) and unfunded obligations (about $42 trillion) was around $53 trillion:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_public_debt
At or near the end of George W. Bush's Presidency, the combined net worth of all U.S. households was only $51.5 trillion:
http://www.ritholtz.com/blog/2009/03/us-household-net-worth-falls-18/
This means that as of the end of George W. Bush's Presidency, if everyone in America sold off everything we owned and applied every penny to America's obligations, we would all be homeless, penniless, starving, and still in debt to the Chinese, et al., for at least $1.5 trillion.
May Our Children Forgive Us ... and May God Help Our Grandchildren.

California Public School District Will Force All First Graders to Follow Curriculum That Normalizes Same-Sex Unions

(CNSNews.com) – The Alameda, Calif., public schools are adopting a curriculum that will require first graders to read literature that equates same-sex unions with a family made up of a mother, father and child.
Parents will not be allowed to opt their first graders out of the curriculum.
Members of the Alameda United School District (AUSD) school board voted 3 to 2 last week to implement the “Safe Schools” curriculum, which supporters say is aimed at stopping anti-homosexual bullying in schools.

Romney Endorses Former US Attorney Chris Christie

Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, honorary chairman of the Free and Strong America PAC, today endorsed former U.S. Attorney Chris Christie for governor of New Jersey.

Romney praised Christie’s conservative values, his commitment to bringing jobs back to New Jersey and his promise to restore fiscal balance by reigning in out-of-control spending.

“I’m convinced the challenges facing New Jersey and the rest of the country can be overcome with courageous leadership. Chris Christie is a strong conservative voice for balanced budgets, low taxes and more jobs. He will bring badly-needed change to state government,” said Romney.

“By electing Chris Christie, the people of New Jersey will be taking a giant step toward a brighter and more prosperous future,” Romney added.

The Free and Strong America PAC supports officeholders and candidates who are dedicated to advancing social, fiscal and foreign policies that will strengthen America. The guiding focus is on the core principles that have built and nurtured America since its founding – uncompromised military strength, an emphasis on strong families, a federalist approach to government that leaves decision-making as close to the people as possible and a belief in the power of free markets and that a competitive America is one where taxes are low and government is small.

Information on Faulkner Act (Council-Manager)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Faulkner Act, or Optional Municipal Charter Law, provides for New Jersey municipalities to adopt a Council-Manager government.

The council consists of 5, 7, or 9 members elected by the public. One of the councilors — chosen either by at-large election or by a vote among the councilors — serves as the mayor, who is merely the head of council and has no special privileges such as veto power. The council hires a manager, who serves as the chief executive and administrative official. The manager prepares the budget, appoints and removes department heads, and attends council meetings, but does not have a vote.

As in all Faulkner Act municipalities, citizens in the Council-Manager system enjoy the right of initiative and referendum, meaning that proposed ordinances can be introduced directly by the people without action by the local governing body. This right is exercised by preparing a conforming petition signed by 10% of the registered voters who turned out in the last general election in an odd-numbered year. Once the petition is submitted, the local governing body can vote to pass the requested ordinance, and if they refuse, it is then submitted directly to the voters.
