GROWING UP GLOUCESTER- Jack 'Bomber' Bennett Reminisces About GCity in 50s & 60s

EDITOR'S NOTE--I came across an article written in 2011 by Jack "The Bomber" Bennett while researching an upcoming piece. Jack reminisces about growing up in Gloucester City during the 50s and 60s and how wonderful it was back then. As a lifelong resident of the city, I can't help but feel sad about the changes we are seeing today. Nonetheless, Jack did a fantastic job of taking us down memory lane and reminding us of the "Happy Days" in Gloucester City. We reprinted his story below. Yesterday morning I bought two six packs of beer on sale at Publix, put 'em on the front seat of the car, and headed back home. I stopped to gas up, and a drop-dead gorgeous "almost" blonde was filling up her car at the next pump. It was very warm and she was wearing tight shorts and a revealing light top. She glanced at the beer, bent over and knocked on my passenger window. Practically falling out of her skimpy top, she said, in a sexy voice, "I'm a big believer in barter, old fella. Burglar and Attempted Car Thief Gets Beat by Gravity-Twice (video)

Gloucester Township Police Crime Stoppers: On August 11, 2022, the pictured suspect entered the locked Frank’s Auto Addictions lot on the Black Horse Pike in the Hilltop Section of Gloucester Township by climbing a gate and falling to the ground on the other side. Unscathed by his blunder, the suspect then attempts to burglarize the business, but the building is locked and secure. The suspect then attempts to steal several vehicles by entering unlocked ones and attempting to “hot wire” them. After an unsuccessful evening, the suspect climbs the rear fence of the business to exit the property and falls to the ground a second time. He slowly gets up off the ground and flees the area. This suspect is also sought in connection with other unlocked vehicle burglaries in town.
